Thea LaFond-Gadson placed fourth in the women’s triple jump with a 14.47m leap at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest.
Dominica: The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) shared that Thea LaFond-Gadson has placed 4th, with a leap of 14.47m, as she represented Dominica in the Women's Triple Jump at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship. The competition took place at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, having begun on Friday, September 11 and concluded on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
According to the DAA, the world tournament had gathered elite athletes, including Olympic Champions, World Champions, Diamond Champions and the top 16 ranked athletes of 2026 to compete in various track events for the title of Ultimate Champion.
LaFond entered the competition as one of the leading contenders. Competing in the Women's Triple Jump, the Olympic Champion and current 2026 World Leader carried Dominica’s flag with her impressive 15.25m national record.
The Athletics Association took to Facebook to congratulate the athlete on her performance, underscoring the importance of having Thea LaFond-Gadson represent Dominica on such an elite global stage, noting that her participation brings great pride and visibility to Dominica as the nation continues to make its mark on the international athletics stage.
