Dominica: The Government of Dominica has begun taking measures to stabilise the landslide affected area at Aux Délices road, announcing that vegetation clearing works will officially begin on the slope on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, and continue for approximately 15 days.
On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and the Digital Economy issued a public notice informing residents that temporary road closures and traffic restrictions are to be expected daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during this period.
The Government of Dominica shared this notice on its official Facebook page, notifying that traffic will be allowed to pass intermittently when conditions are safe, while the roadway will be cleared promptly to allow emergency vehicles to pass.
Moreover, according to the released notice, all motorists are advised to expect delays during the 15 days and plan their journeys accordingly.
Th Public Works Ministry has expressed its appreciation to the public for its patience and cooperation during the works.
On its Facebook post, the Government informed: The Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and the Digital Economy advises the public that vegetation clearing works on the slope at Aux Delices are scheduled to commence on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, and are expected to continue for approximately 15 days, subject to weather and site conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays, plan their journeys accordingly, and follow instructions from personnel on site.
The current vegetation clearing and slope stabilization efforts are part of that immediate response to ensure long-term road safety and prevent future debris blockages. Earlier last week, Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit had visited the area following the landslide and assured the citizens that the Government will stabilise the area, improve the alternative route between Delices and Petite Savanne, and address drainage and overgrown vegetation.
